125 anniversary of Malayan Railway

Well...it's been a while since I last wrote here..I was down with flu and today I'm getting ready for a roadtrip to Ioannina in Northern Greece! But, a have a little bit of time to upload ona or two postcards before I leave :)

This card was sent to me by Aamea from Malaysia as a private swap. This is a collectors item, as I would call it, since it was issued [both the card and the stamps] as an anniversary celebration of the 125 years of Malayan Railway.

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) or Malayan Railways Limited is the main rail operator in Peninsular Malaysia. The railway system dates back to the British colonial era, when it was first built to transport tin. Previously known as the Federated Malay States Railways (FMSR) and the Malayan Railway Administration (MRA), Keretapi Tanah Melayu acquired its current name on Malaysia's independence in 1962. The organization was corporatized in 1992, but remains wholly owned by the Malaysian government. Fares are generally reasonable, but the low frequency of the intercity trains does not usually make them competitive with other modes of transportation. [wikipedia]
